THE BIRTH CENTER
The SHMS Childbirth Center has one birthing suite located in the lower level of the clinic. Designed like a mother- in-law apartment, it has a cozy, informal look. It is equipped with a kitchenette, birthing room with deep soaker tub and shower, and a living room area. A second room with a comfortable Murphy bed is available upstairs for initial triage or postpartum recovery if needed. So far, we have attended over 600 births in our cozy suite. Delivery at the birth center is covered by virtually all health insurance plans and Medicaid.
Now we are very pleased to also be attending births at Center for Birth in the South Lake Union neighborhood, owned and operated by one of our midwives Tina Tsiakalis. Please consult our billing service for specific information about your insurance coverage if you are interested in delivering at this beautiful new facility.
