Getting started – free consultation visit
Come in and get acquainted. In a free and private visit, you will meet with one of our midwives who will answer your questions, describe the services we offer and help you find the information you need to make an informed choice about your pregnancy and birth care.
Complete prenatal care
Initial Visit
Your prenatal care begins with a lengthy and individually tailored initial visit in which your health history and nutrition are discussed, a physical exam is performed and laboratory tests are discussed and obtained as you choose. If you've had earlier prenatal care elsewhere, records are obtained with your authorization and carefully reviewed together.
Return Visits
Subsequent prenatal visits occur each month until your 32nd week of pregnancy and then increase to every two weeks until 36 weeks, then weekly until your labor starts. If you are planning a home birth, we visit you there once during the last month of pregnancy to assist you further in planning your birth.
At these visits we take time, not just for physical examination, but also to address a variety of topics important to you—an average prenatal visit lasts forty-five minutes. A significant goal of our prenatal care is developing a comfortable and mutually trusting relationship to ensure that your pregnancy is as healthy and satisfying as it can be.
